How to test and verify existing and Waved app audio controls

Updated over 5 months ago

This video covers the process of testing and verifying that all audio controls in the Waved application works as expected. After setting up Waved, the controls in the panel view in the Waved application should reflect the true values of the sound system, and also be synchronised with external audio panels and controls.

Before making any changes in the Waved application, it can be smart to make some changes to an existing audio control device, such as a wall-mounted audio panel, in the venue. Try changing the volume level, muting and unmuting the music and changing the input source. The changes made in the existing audio control device should be reflected in the Waved application. If nothing changes in the Waved application, this is an indication that something might be configured incorrectly. However, if the Waved application reflects the changes, the Waved configuration is probably correct.

After verifying that changes made in the existing music control are shown in the Waved application, try to test in the opposite direction. Make some changes in the Waved application and check if the existing audio control device reflects the changes.

Sometimes, the existing music control device and the Waved application will not reflect each other's changes. Waved will still work as intended, but it is important to know that the devices could be out of sync.

The final test after configuring Waved is to verify that changes made in the Waved application are actually enforced in the expected way. Try controlling the volume level, muting and unmuting the music, and changing source in every audio zone. When making the changes, verify the expected behaviour by listening to the audio output from the speakers in the zone. If something doesn’t work, or has an unexpected behaviour, the Waved configuration needs to be reviewed. If everything is working as expected, the installation can continue.
